management leads know your status campaign

The North West Department of Public Works today launched a voluntary
counselling and testing campaign for Executive and Senior Managers in the
department under the theme "Know about HIV and AIDS, Know your status for your
sake."
The objective of the two-day campaign is to raise awareness about HIV and
AIDS, designative HIV and AIDS in the workplace and to create a working
environment that cares and supports employees who are infected and affected by
HIV and AIDS, especially those who are ill.
The campaign is part of the departmental programme on management of HIV and
AIDS in the workplace that includes treatment, care and support.
Meanwhile, MEC Yawa will on Thursday, 30 November 2006, lead Senior Managers
with the signing of a pledge of support to the HIV and AIDS workplace
programme, commitment to openness and support to employees that voluntarily
disclose their status within the workplace and to create a working environment
that cares and supports employees who are infected and affected by HIV and
AIDS, especially those who are ill.
The campaign which is to be rolled out to all regions and throughout the
department has attracted the interest of lower employees who also wanted to
participate in the pre-testing counselling, testing and post-testing
counselling.
