Labour Minister addresses farm workers Imbizo at George this weekend
The Minister of Labour, Mildred Oliphant will be addressing an Imbizo of farm workers in the area of Southern Cape at George on Saturday 27, June 2015. The theme under which this Imbizo will be conducted is “Inspection and enforcement services”.
The farm workers Imbizo is conducted against the backdrop of an inspection exercise conducted from the 9th to the 13th of March this year. The objective of this exercise was to ensure that employers in the farming sector comply with employment laws. It is also to determine whether employees get paid the legislated minimum wages, compliance with Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF), Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Disease Act (COIDA) and Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
Major employer and employee representatives like COSATU, NACTU, FEDUSA, AgriSA, and AFSA will participate in this Imbizo.
