The Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG) is hosting a two-day energy symposium and exhibition 17-18 February at the Sandton Convention Centre, Sandton.
The Indaba Energy symposium is a partnership project between the Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development (GDID) and private sector agency Siyenza Management.
Minister of Energy Tina Joemat-Pettersson, will address the conference and eight other African energy Ministers will also be in attendance along with over 120 guest speakers and 200 energy experts.
The Indaba is expected to shed light on the Provincial Government’s Integrated Energy Strategy (GIES). MEC for Infrastructure Development Nandi Mayathula-Khoza, is expected to share GPG’s strategy with delegates at the Indaba.
“The Indaba is endorsed and held in conjunction with inter-govermental multilateral forums, such as the Foundation for the Development of Africa, the World Energy Council and the New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD), Planning and Coordination Agency (NPCA).
“The province is heavily reliant on non-renewable resources for energy and this tends to be unaffordable. So, we are keen on global trends and experiences and this Indaba will go a long-way in assisting us in this regard,” Mayathula-Khoza said.
