Gauteng rewards service excellence among public servants

The Gauteng Provincial Government is proud to announce and congratulate the
winners in the sixth annual Premier's Service Excellence Awards (PSEA). Held
under theme "A better Gauteng is in the making", the awards were introduced in
2002 to inspire, promote and reward excellent performance in the public
service. It forms part of a series of provincial government measures to improve
service delivery, make the public service more responsive to people's needs and
improve overall performance.

Twelve teams were selected as finalists in the two main award categories:
Face of Government and Back-Office Support.

The winners in the 2007 PSEA's are:

Overall Platinum Award:
The mobile application system, Gauteng Shared Services Centre

Face of government category

Gold: Tambo Memorial Hospital, Audiology Neonatal Screening and
Amplification, Department of Health
Silver: Johannesburg Oral Health Services, Infection Control, Department of
Health
Bronze: South Rand Hospital, Occupational Therapy: Speech Therapy and Audiology
and Bosasa Youth Development Centre for street children, Department of Social
Development.

Back office support category:

* Gold: The Mobile Application System, Gauteng Shared Services Centre
* Silver: Philani Community Based Organisation HIV and AIDS programme,
Department of Social Development
* Bronze: Bosasa Youth Development Foundation, Department of Social
Development

"I would like to congratulate all the teams that were nominated for this
year's awards. I also urge the achievers to sustain their excellent work.

We are indeed inspired by the dedication and commitment you have displayed
in serving our people and in achieving excellence in your work," said Gauteng
Premier, Mbhazima Shilowa.
