officially changed its name

The Department of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture (SRAC) is happy to
announce that it has officially changed its name to the Department of Sport,
Arts, Culture and Recreation (SACR).
The name change was occasioned to better represent the focal mission and
mandate of the Department and was effected by proclamation in 2005.
The vision of the Department is clearly focused on Gauteng as the Home of
Champions, where sport, arts, culture and recreation promotes nation building,
economic growth and sustainable livelihoods, ensuring skilled, active and
healthy communities.
In keeping with the spirit of change to a new name the Department of Sport,
Arts, Culture and Recreation welcomes 2006 with renewed vigour and commitment
to work in the service of the people of Gauteng.
