Minister Fraser-Moleketi to address the South African Women in
Dialogue (SAWID) on the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM)

27 January 2006

Public Service and Administration Minister Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi will
address the South African Women in Dialogue (SAWID) at a conference on South
Africa's ongoing APRM.

Minister Fraser-Moleketi, who is the Chairperson of the APRM Governing
Council, will address the SAWID conference on Saturday, 28 January 2006, at the
Birchwood Hotel, Boksburg, from 09h30.

First Lady Zanele Mbeki and the President of the Pan-African Parliament
(PAP), Ms Gertrude Mongela, will also address the conference.

The APRM is a country self-assessment process, voluntarily acceded to by
member states of the African Union (AU) to assess the performance of their
countries in the areas of Democracy and Good Political Governance, Economic
Governance and Management, Corporate Governance and Socio-economic
Development.

One of the guiding principles for countries undertaking the APRM is to make
sure that participation in the country self-assessment process is broad-based.
In this regard, South African women will take advantage of the conference to
elaborate on their role in the country's development through democracy and good
political governance, economic governance and management, corporate governance
and socio-economic development.
