The Free State School of Nursing will resume classes on 23 February 2009.
Residences have already opened. This came after an agreement was reached
between the various parties concerned.
FSSON will re-open under the following conditions:
* Classes of theory re-commences on Monday, 23 February 2009 and clinical
allocation from the week commencing Sunday, 22 February as per learner
allocation.
* The pre-examination revision week will be utilised to make up for lost
time.
* Academic regulations will apply taking into account that learners who did
not report to their allocated areas on Friday, 13 February 2009, will be
regarded as absent unless proof is provided of authorised absence.
* The week of 16 to 20 February will be regarded as compulsory special leave
and will not be taken into account for recording and reporting absenteeism and
the week will be made up during the pre-examination revision week as
indicated.
* Learners will conduct themselves in a responsible and professional manner
and refrain from any disruptive and intimidating activities.
Management of the Free State Department of Health (FSDoH) has recommitted
itself to continue to explore funding alternatives; however, bursaries will be
paid in the beginning of the 2009/10 financial year.
