On the directive of His Excellency, President Jacob Zuma, Ministers and their Deputy Ministers, respectively, are required to hold imbizos during the month of June 2013.
The Deputy Minister of Police, Hon Ms Makhotso Maggie Sotyu (MP) has identified the Northern Cape and Free State provinces to hold these Imbizos.
1. Northern Cape Imbizo: The focus theme is: Youth against Crime and Illegal and Unhealthy Initiation of Boys
As part of the Imbizo programme, the Deputy Minister of Police will be doing an unannounced visit to one of the police stations in the Hartswater Cluster, holding a public engagement with the Pampierstad community members, and also visiting a 16 year old boy victim of an illegal initiation school at his house in Hartswater, Bonita Park Community, in the effort to discourage community members in using illegal initiation schools. The imbizo in the Northern Cape will be held as follows:

2. Free State Imbizo: The focus theme is: Youth against Substance Abuse and Gangsterism
Free State as a small province has seen a rampant increase of crime committed by youth affiliated to gangsters and drug lords.
As a follow-up to the recently held Provincial Summit on Crime Prevention led by the Premier of Free State, the Deputy Minister of Police will be holding public engagement with the youth of the Meloding Community and surrounding areas to invite the youth of Free State to join hands and working together with the South African Police Service (SAPS) to eradicate all forms of crime in their respective communities.
