Minister Susan Shabangu to address South African Coal Exports conference on challenges facing the coal industry

Mineral Resources Minister Susan Shabangu (MP) will tomorrow 30 January 2013 address delegates at the South African Coal Exports Conference in Cape Town on the challenges that lay ahead for the country’s coal industry.

The two-day conference will among other things discuss the following topics:

  • Global economic outlook
  • Will the expansion of transport links to Richards Bay bring a significant rise in exports?
  • Chinese and Indian thermal coal demand: Will this pick up again?
  • Rising costs in global mining – how will this affect South Africa's coal sector?
  • Sub-Sahara: Review of mine developments and transport infrastructure
  • Thermal coal outlook 2012–2016

The event will take place as follows:
