Fourth Biennial South African Monitoring and Evaluation Association (SAMEA) conference on monitoring and evaluation

The South African Monitoring and Evaluation Association (SAMEA) in partnership with the Public Service Commission (PSC) and the Department of 
Performance and Monitoring and Evaluation (DPME) in the Presidency, take pleasure in inviting you to the 4th Biennial SAMEA conference on Monitoring and Evaluation from 18 – 20 September 2013 at the Hilton Hotel, Sandton.

The theme for this year’s conference is: Meaningful Evaluation: Improving Use and Results.

Through the ‘Meaningful evaluation: improving use and results’ theme, the conference will reflect on the use of evaluations in improving the end results of development interventions, as well as the importance of evaluation practices in addressing issues of effectiveness, efficiency, impact,
empowerment, sustainability, and accountability, all of which are pertinent to the development question.

Conference highlights includes keynote addresses by:

  • Hon. Ohm Collins Chabane, Minister in the Presidency for Performance Monitoring, Evaluation and Administration
  • Prof Howard White (3ie), Dr Fred Carden (AusAID), Prof Patricia Rogers (BetterEvaluation) Dr Jim Rugh (EvalPartners), Dr Gonzalo Hernandez (Mexico); Dr Sully Gariba (Presidential Advisor: Ghana)
  • Dr Sean Phillips, (The Presidency, DPME) , Dr Richard Levin (The Public Service Commission)
  • Dr Albert Byamugish (Office of Prime Minister, Uganda), Dr Amy Gottlieb (USAID/PEPFAR) and Dr David Allen (MD Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation)

The conference is precedent by a series of pre-conference workshops by top local and international experts.
