notice
19 January 2009
The Department of Education (DoE) urges all candidates who failed one or two
subjects during the 2008 national Senior Certificate examination to apply to
write supplementary examinations. The candidate must register at the school or
province in which they wrote by 21 January 2008.
Candidates, who wish to apply for supplementary examinations in terms of
admission requirements to higher education or work, need to submit documentary
evidence in this regard and complete a registration form available at the
district office.
Candidates are required to obtain admission letters for the supplementary
examination from the district office where entries were submitted. These
admission letters will be available from the district office on 6 February
2009. The admission letter, together with the candidate's identity document,
will be required before he or she is permitted into the examination room.
Supplementary examinations will be conducted at cluster centres that are
linked to the candidate's original centre from 17 February to 23 March 2009.
Candidates will be required to produce a valid form of identification (identity
document or passport) when registering for and when writing the supplementary
examinations.
Learners can SMS their student number to 35909 to verify if they qualify for
the supplementary examination. Learners may also watch SABC's Learning Channel
for learning material which will be screened from 19 January between 10h00 to
12h00. The timetable for the supplementary examinations can be obtained from
the DoE website at http://www.doe.gov.za
