The Eastern Cape Department of Education provided Bonxa Junior Secondary
School (JSS) at Ntlamvini Administrative Area in Ntabakulu R30 million to build
classrooms, a library and a computer laboratory. The department is in the
process of phasing out all mud structure schools.
Mr Khayelihle Garane, the principal of Bonxa JSS expressed his gratitude to
the Eastern Cape Department of Education for the gesture. âThe ECDoE came to
our rescue in January 2008 and today our learners get education in a pleasant
environment,â said Garane.
At present, Bonxa JSS has about 70 computers which are not only of benefit
to Bonxa students but to the surrounding communities. The desire of the school
to help the community seems to be successful as Bonxa trains people and offer
computer certificates to the community members after completing three, six,
nine and ten months courses.
Garane further gave his respects to the Eastern Cape Department of Education
as it provides learners with scholar transport and school nutrition. He
disclosed that some learners used to arrive at school with empty stomachs and
that has an impact in their participation abilities in class.
A member of the community, Nombuso Pikwa, obtained her computer certificate
from Bonxa JSS. âI m grateful to Bonxa JSS for offering computer studies to the
less privileged at Ntlamvini community,â said Nombuso. She believes that the
school will do more for the communities and play a crucial role in moulding
people in the area.
