On 17 March 2006, the Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) and the
Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality will present a consultative workshop on
the dti's strategic framework on gender and women's empowerment. The focus will
be on the way in which entrepreneurship can contribute to and promote women's
economic empowerment.
The keynote address will be delivered by the Deputy Minister of Trade and
Industry, Ms Elizabeth Thabethe. Ms Mmabatho Matiwane of the Gender and Women's
Empowerment unit in the Department will outline and explain the strategy; they
will be joined by a range of experts to show women the ropes in the programmes
and assistance that are available to women entrepreneurs.
