North West Premier, Edna Molewa, has urged the people of the province to
rally behind the teams that will be playing in the semi-finals of the Telkom
knock-out competition this coming weekend.
The North West is the only province that will be hosting the two
quarter-final games. The skilful Premier Soccer League (PSL) reigning
champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, who are currently riding the crest of a wave,
will display their flair against a determined Ajax Cape Town on Sunday at
Olympia Stadium, Rustenburg. In another game that will also provide plenty of
entertainment and excitement, Silver Stars will face Santos on Saturday at Olen
Park Stadium, Potchefstroom. Both games start at 15h45.
The decision of the Premier Soccer League and the sponsors to stage the two
semi-final games in the North West is seen as an unequivocal vote of confidence
in the province's passion for the game. The provincial government urges the
people of the province to reciprocate by flocking to the games in their
thousands.
"We must vindicate the decision of the Cup Committee by rallying behind the
teams that will be playing this weekend. The time to demonstrate our
unparalleled passion for the game is now," said Molewa.
North West football fans must show the world that the province and
Rustenburg in particular, is a deserving venue for the 2010 games.
