E Molewa to deliver State of the Province Address, 16 Feb

North West Premier, Edna Molewa, will deliver her fourth State
of the Province Address on Friday, 16 February 2006, at the Provincial
Legislature in Mafikeng

12 February 2006

The State of the Province Address is a platform for the articulation of
government's programme of action for the year. Premier Molewa's speech will,
once again, identify key delivery priorities for the provincial government. In
addition, the Premier is expected to make some assessment of the extent to
which government has performed with regard to some of the objectives it has set
for itself.

The Premier is also likely to reflect on the performance of government and
its social partners on the implementation of the Provincial Growth and
Development Strategy as part of the national effort to fight poverty and create
employment.

For a province that is largely rural, the challenge of job creation and
poverty eradication remain at the top the provincial government's agenda. The
Premier's speech is expected to pay particular attention to how the provincial
government and its social partners need to respond, on an ongoing basis, to
these twin challenges.
