B Sonjica to host Zambia and Zimbabwe counterparts, 19 Oct

The Minister of Minerals and Energy in South Africa, Ms Buyelwa Sonjica,
will today, 18 October 2007, host her counterparts from Zambia and Zimbabwe in
a tripartite meeting in Durban.

The purpose of the meeting is to look into matters of common interest within
the mining environment which would include interests of the one country in
mining in another. This meeting follows an earlier meeting of officials from
the three countries held in September. A previous meeting of Ministers also
tasked officials from the three countries to set up a new mining company that
would take over operations of ZIZA, which was exclusively a Zimbabwean/Zambian
company, and which company would include South Africa.
