Address by President Cyril Ramaphosa on deaths of children due to food-borne illnesses – in numbers.

  • 890 – a total of reported incidents of food-borne illnesses across all provinces 
    since the beginning of September 2024.
  • 22 – children who lost their lives over the last few weeks alone due to food-borne illnesses, by 15 November 2024.
  •  6 – children who died last month (October) following a major food-borne incident in Naledi, Soweto.
