I am both humbled and excited by my appointment as MEC of Social Development. I have been in my current portfolio since September last year, and see this move to a new portfolio as a vote of confidence in me by Premier Zille.
My immediate priorities will be poverty alleviation, early childhood development and youth development.
I intend to tackle Social Development with the same vigour and enthusiasm as I did Community Safety, and look forward to several transversal projects that will see these portfolios work side by side to make life safer and better for all in the Western Cape.
