Molemo (Jub Jub) Maarohanye appeals bail decision

Convicted musician Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye has filed an urgent
application in the South Gauteng High court to be released on bail pending
his sentencing.

Mr Maarohanye wants the court to set aside an earlier ruling by the Protea
Magistrate court that denied him bail after his conviction.

Together with co-accused Themba Tshabalala, Maarohanye was found
guilty of drag racing, 4 counts of murder, 2 of attempted murder and driving
under the influence of drugs.

The Protea Magistrate’s court denied granting bail to the two men after their
convictions and magistrate Brian Nemavhidi ordered that they be remanded
in custody until their sentencing on 30 November.

Now Maarohanye has turned to the High court to try and set aside this
decision.

The matter will be heard on Wednesday, 7 November at the South Gauteng
High court and the National Prosecuting Authority will be opposing this
application on grounds that the he was found guilty on serious charges and
no exceptional circumstances exists for his release on bail.
