Minister Zweli Mkhize updates National Council of Provinces on budget vote undertakings, 7 Nov

The Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs will appear before the National Council of Provinces, (NCOP) Select Committee on Petitions and Executive Undertakings to provide an update on undertakings that the COGTA Minister made to the House on 4 May 2016 during a policy debate on the COGTA Budget Vote 4.

COGTA then committed to: develop a ward-based service delivery dashboard and implementing ward improvement plans; increase public participation platforms for councillors to engage more regularly with constituencies and provide constant feedback, ensure the election of more credible ward committees, to introduce a national induction programme for ward committee members and to institutionalize community complaints management systems and processes in municipalities.
 
Other commitments included getting the Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent (MISA) to implement the regional management support contracts to improve infrastructure delivery, management and operations and expending great effort to provide support to the traditional councils to improve the level of functionality and strengthen their performance.
