The Minister of Science and Technology, Naledi Pandor will deliver a keynote address at the iThemba Labs Gauteng Accelerator Mass Spectroscopy (AMS) Facility Launch And Workshop at iThemba Labs Gauteng, situated on the corner of Jan Smuts and Empire Roads, Braamfontein, Johannesburg.

iThemba Labs Gauteng is a leading primary centre of research, training and service expertise in accelerator based sciences and technologies to advance science in South Africa and beyond.

It provides advanced, viable, multidisciplinary facilities for research, training and services in the fields of nuclear related sciences for the pride and benefit of all the people of South Africa and the rest of the continent.

The facilities of iThemba Labs Gauteng have been improved with the addition of a new Accelerator Mass Spectroscopy Facility (AMS) which will contribute significantly to research in the areas of Biomedicine, Diagnostics, Agriculture and Minerals, Materials and Chemicals and from which the South African universities will benefit greatly.

A workshop on AMS with acclaimed international speakers in this field has been arranged to coincide with the launch of the newly acquired facility.
