As the Western Cape Minister of Cultural Affairs, Sport and Recreation it is indeed an honour for me to congratulate Springbok Coach, Peter De Villiers for being awarded the Absa coach of the year.
De Villiers has proven several times that he is more than capable of steering The Springboks in the right direction. In addition to his aforementioned award, I was equally elated when the Springboks received the South African rugby team of the year award.
For a man with such humble beginnings, De Villiers has proven that if given a chance, you can make a success of anything, through hard work and dedication.
He truly can be seen as a role model to many of our youth. He has once again demonstrated that it does not matter what your position in life, success is a certainty if you have perseverance and keenness.
I would like to hereby applaud springbok coach, Peter De Villiers, for the work he has done and the leadership he had shown in ensuring that the South African national rugby reach new heights.
