The Western Cape Minister of Cultural Affairs, Sport and Recreation, Mr Sakkie Jenner, will on Friday, 11 September 2009 be handing over a cheque to the organisers of the Laingsburg Ultra Marathon.
According to Minister Jenner, “It is obvious that the sporting development of this rural community is important to the organisers of this event.” “Our rural communities are neglected in terms of sporting events and this marathon which as of this year will serve as a qualifier for the Comrades Marathon will ensure that the town of Laingsburg gets put on the sporting map.”
