MEC Debbie Schafer on release of 2014 National Senior Certificate results

Timing of release for 2014 NSC results

The much anticipated results of the NSC are expected to be announced tomorrow, 5 January 2015 by Minister Motshekga. Schools and candidates in the Western Cape will receive their results on 6 January 2015.

Schools collect the results from district offices on the morning of the release. They are then asked to analyse the results and check for any errors. At 12h00 on 6th January 2015, the 2014 NSC candidates will then receive their individual results.

The individual candidate results will then be available on the Western Cape Government website (http://www.westerncape.gov.za/service/examination-information-and-results) from 15h00 on Tuesday 6th January 2015.

Many parents and learners question why, in the Western Cape, learners have to wait until 12h00 the following day to receive their results. This is done for a number of reasons which include the fact that principals examine the results to pick up any errors, and to alert the WCED regarding a candidate that may be disappointed by their results and need counselling.

The WCED has counsellors available across the Province should candidates need assistance.

Candidates can contact the WCED's Exams Helpline for further information at (021) 467-2300, or visit the Exams Helpdesk at the WCED's Head Office, second floor, Grand Central Building, Lower Parliament Street, Cape Town.
