Tomorrow MEC De Lille will be visiting the Velde Vrede hall, Samora, to do a monitoring and evaluation exercise.
The department has endorsed the implementation of short term interventions aimed at insulating the most vulnerable members of our society against hunger and poverty.
One such intervention is the implementation of community nutrition and development centres (CNDCs). These CNDCs sought to improve the soup kitchens, were riddled with the following challenges:
- serving of soup and bread
- provision of food on certain days of the week
- no record of beneficiaries
- poor coordination of services and duplication
- no support of beneficiaries beyond provision of food (lack of development of beneficiaries)
For this reason, MEC De Lille will be visiting CNDC's across the province, during the month of October, to establish that we as a department are fulfilling our mandate to ensure that our most vulnerable citizens are taken care of. The first of these sight visits takes place tomorrow.
