Subcontractors deployed for the construction of the Medupi Power Station in Lephalale have been put on the lens by Limpopo Inspectors. The mini blitz inspection which will commence on 1 to 3 December will put all contractors at Medupi Construction site under a serious scrutiny to assess their compliance levels with all Labour Legislation.
Peter Mangale Assistant Director OHS in Limpopo says that those who will be found to be lacking in compliance will face the wrath of forever vigilant Labour Inspectorate.
“The Construction industry is amongst the workplaces that are categorised by the Department of Labour as high risk workplaces. That is why the Limpopo Provincial Office took the initiative to assess the situation at this most prominent construction site in the country.” Mangale says.
Mangale further stated that the action is taken as part of the execution of the Departmental strategic plan, to target all high risk workplaces, to totally eliminate the under par compliance at all workstations.
