Limpopo on alert for bogus inspectors

The Department of Labour in Limpopo has warned employers and workers to be on the alert of bogus Labour inspectors operating in the Jane Furse and Origstad areas.

Apparently, there are people roaming these areas masquerading as Labour officials with the aim to swindle businesses and people who recently lost employment their hard earned cash under the guise of assisting them to claim for Unemployment Insurance benefits.

The department's provincial executive manager Albert Tshidavhu says the bogus officials go around asking unsuspecting people who resigned or lost their jobs in recent months to provide them with details and copies of their identity documents, bank card and pin numbers "to speed up UIF payments" on their behalf.

"We want to place it on record that a Labour inspector will never demand your bank details and pin code when processing the Unemployment Insurance claim," he said in a statement.

Employers and businesses that need any assistance or service can visit their nearest Labour Centre at no charge. Tshidavhu urged suspecting clients to report incidents of this nature at the police.
