The Department of Health’s Western Cape Rehabilitation Centre (WCRC) for persons with physical disabilities will be hosting a Jazz in the Park concert on 7 March 2010, at the Maynardville Open Air theatre. The concert will start at 14h30 and acts include performers Amanda Tiffin and her Little Big band, as well as various other artists.
Two successful jazz concerts were held in April 2008 and March 2009. Funds raised at these two concerts assisted the Western Cape Rehabilitation Centre with activities such as the hydro swimming pool, gymnasium, as well as the appointment and training of a consultant and two gym assistants.
The aim of the next concert is to raise funds for the continuation and further development of the health and wellness centre. Tickets are limited and are on sale at Computicket for R64 and R80. Entry is free for children under the age of seven years.
The Western Cape Rehabilitation Centre renders services to persons with physical disabilities in the whole of the Western Cape and has identified the need for health promotion and preventative services to cater for the health and wellness needs of clients post-discharge from specialised rehabilitation centres.
