Activism campaign for 2006
15 November 2006
The 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children campaign
starts on Saturday, 25 November with an event in Limpopo and will end on
International Human Rights Day on 10 December. The campaign which takes place
annually is endorsed by the United Nations.
The aim of the campaign is to create awareness with the public, but it is
also a call on all South Africans to act against abuse.
The key commemorative dates in the Campaign will serve as platforms for
highlighting the plight of vulnerable groups in our communities such as women,
children, the aged and the disabled who are often the victims of violence and
abuse:
25 November â International Day for No Violence against Women
1 December â International HIV and AIDS Day
3 December â International Day for People Living with Disability
10 December â International Human Rights Day.
