The Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) has been involved in the review of the Industrial Development Zones (IDZ) Programme and the development of the Special Economic Zones (SEZ) Policy for the past few years.
The SEZ Bill & Policy have almost reached the final stages of approval and are due for public hearings/participation and comments. The SEZ Bill and Policy have been gazetted (Government Gazette No. 34968, Notice No. 45 of 2012), and can be obtained on the dti website (www.thedti.gov.za). Comments on both documents can be sent to sezbill@thedti.gov.za.
