86 of 1992

The Transport General Amendment Act 86 of 1992 intends:

  • to amend the Merchant Shipping Act, 1951, so as to delete the power of the Minister of Transport to appoint port welfare committees;
  • to amend the National Road Safety Act, 1972, so as to abolish the National Road Safety Council, and transfer the functions and powers of the council to the Director-General: Transport, who shall perform and exercise them subject to the control and directions of the Minister of Transport; and
  • to amend the Transport Advisory Council Act, 1987 [repealed in 1995], so as to amend the constitution of the Transport Advisory Council; and
  • to provide for matters connected therewith.
