South African Public Library (Pensions and Provident Fund) Act, 1924 (No. 9 of 1924)

Act

to enable the Board of Trustees of the South African Public Library to grant pecuniary benefits to officers of such library upon their retirement, and to validate pensions heretofore granted.

Be it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, the Senate and the House of Assembly of the Union of South Africa, as follows :-

Power of board to grant pecuniary benefits to retiring officers.

1. The Board of Trustees of the South African Public Library is hereby empowered to grant pecuniary benefits upon retirement to the librarian and such other officers as may have been appointed by the Board under the powers conferred by section fifteen of the South African Public Library Act, 1893, of the Cape of Good Hope (Act No. 33, 1893).

Validation of pension heretofore granted.

2. Any pension heretofore granted by the said Board to any officer on retirement from the office to which he was appointed under section fifteen of the said Act is hereby validated.

Provident fund.

3. A Provident Fund shall be established and maintained by the said board into which shall be paid by the librarian and such officers as are referred to in section one contributions at rates fixed from time to time by regulation framed by the board and approved by the Minister of the Interior, and by the board such contributions as the board may with the approval of the Minister determine.

Short title.

4. This Act may be cited for all purposes as the South African Public Library (Pensions and Provident Fund) Act, 1924.
