The repealed South African Citizenship Amendment Act 43 of 1984 intended to:

  • to amend the South African Citizenship Act, 1949 [repealed in 1995], so as
    • to make other provision for the acquisition of South African citizenship by virtue of ordinary residence in the Republic; and 
    • to do away with the duty of the Minister of Internal Affairs to publish certain returns; and
  • to provide for matters connected therewith.
