The Road Traffic Management Corporation Act 20 of 1999 intends:
- to provide, in the public interest, for co-operative and co-ordinated strategic planning, regulation, facilitation and law enforcement in respect of road traffic matters by the national, provincial and local spheres of government;
- to regulate the contracting out of road traffic services;
- to provide for the phasing in of private investment in road traffic;
- to that end, to provide for the establishment of the Road Traffic Management Corporation; and
- to provide for connected matters.
