The Protection of Animals Amendment Act 7 of 1991 intends:

  • to amend the Performing Animals Protection Act, 1935, so as
    • to extend the provisions of the Act to include dogs used for safeguarding;
    • to review the fines that may be imposed in respect of offences; and
    • to exclude the territory of South West Africa from the application of the Act;
  • to amend the Animals Protection Act, 1962, so as
    • to further define and extend actions constituting offences;
    • to review the fines that may be imposed in respect of offences; and
    • to exclude the territory of South West Africa from the application of the Act; and
  • to provide for matters connected therewith.

  • 1 September 1993, Sections 1 to 11 (Gazette 15102 of 1 September 1993)
  • 29 Nov ember1991, Sections  12, 13, 14 15 and 16 (Gazette 13644 of 29 November 1991)
