Act
- to amend the provisions of the Correctional Services (previously Prisons) Act, 1959, in order to distinguish between chaplains on the fixed establishment of the Prisons Department and other persons ministering to the spiritual needs in prisons.

BE IT ENACTED by the State President, the Senate and the House of Assembly of the Republic of South Africa, as follows:-
Substitution of section 7 of Act 8 of 1959.
1. The following section is hereby substituted for section 7 of the Prisons Act, 1959:
"Ministers of religion.
7. (1) Apart from commissioned officers appoint ed under section 4 (1) who hold posts as chaplains on the fixed establishment of the Prisons Department, the Minister may from time to time grant written permission to one or more ministers of religion or such other persons as he may deem fit, to render such services and to perform such functions, in respect of any prison or group of prisons, as may be specified in the letters in which permission is so granted to such ministers of religion or other persons.
(2) Any permission granted by the Minister under the provisions of this section may at any time be cancelled by him.".
Short title.
2. This Act shall be called the Prisons Amendment Act, 1975.
