Act

  • to amend the Parliamentary and Provincial Medical Aid Scheme Act, 1975, so as
    • to make further provision for membership of the Panned Medical Aid Scheme; and
    • to delete references to the Administrator of the territory of South West Africa, a member of the Executive Committee of that territory, a member of the Legislative Assembly of that territory and the administration of that territory.

BE IT ENACTED by the State President and the House of Assembly of the Republic of South Africa, as follows:

Amendment of section 1 of Act 28 of 1975, as substituted by section 1 of Act 61 of 1976.

1. Section 1 of the Parliamentary arid Provincial Medical Aid Scheme Act, 1975, is hereby amended by-

(a) the substitution for paragraph (a) of the following paragraph:

"(a) while not being a member of either [the Senate or] the House of Assembly or the House of Representatives or the House of Delegates, a Minister or Deputy Minister;";

(b) the substitution for paragraph (b) of the following paragraph: 

"(b) an Administrator of a province [or the Administrator of the territory of South West Africa];"; 

(c) the substitution for paragraph (d) of the following paragraph:

"(d) a member [of the Senate,] of the House of Assembly, of the House of Representatives, of the House of Delegates or of the President's Council , or of [the] a provincial council [of a province or of . the Legislative Assembly of the territory of South West Africa];"; and

(d) the substitution for paragraph (e) of the following paragraph:

"(e) while not being a member of a provincial council, a member of the executive committee of a province [or, while not being a member of the Legislative Assembly of the territory of South West Africa, a member. of the Executive Committee of the said territory],". ·

Amendment of section 2 of Act 28 of 1975.

2. Section 2 of the Parliamentary and Provincial Medical Aid Scheme Act, 1975, is hereby amended by the substitution for paragraph (b) of subsection (1) of the following paragraph: 

"(b) who, after ceasing to hold any such office or post, has continuously remained a member of the Parmed Medical Aid Scheme, and at any time after so ceasing to hold such office or post, holds any other office or post in respect of which a salary is paid to him by the State (including any provincial administration [or the admlnistration of the territory of South West Africa]),".

Short title and commencement.

3. This Act shall be called the Parliamentary and Provincial Medical Aid Scheme Amendment Act, 1984, and shall come into operation on the date on which section 30 of the Republic of South Africa Constitution Act, 1983 (Act No. 110 of 1983), comes into operation.
