Parliamentary and Provincial Medical Aid Scheme Amendment Act, 1976 (No. 61 of 1976)
Act
- to amend the provisions of the Parliamentary and Provincial Medical Aid Scheme Act, 1975, in order to provide for compulsory membership of the Parmed Medical Aid Scheme of judges of the Supreme Court of South Africa; and
- to provide for incidental matters.

Be it enacted by the State President, the Senate and the House of Assembly of the Republic of South Africa, as follows:-
Substitution of section 1 of Act 28 of 1975.
1. The following section is hereby substituted for the Parliamentary and Provincial Medical Aid Scheme Act, 1975.
"Compuslory membership of Parmed Medical Aid Scheme of certain persons.
1. Every person who is or becomes-
(a) while not being a member of either the Senate or the House of Assembly, a Minister or Deputy Minister;
(b) an Administrator of a province or the Administrator of the territory of South West Africa;
(c) a judge of the Supreme Court of South Africa in a permanent capacity;
(d) a member of the Senate, of the House of Assembly, of the provincial council of a province or of the Legislative Assembly of the territory of South West Africa;
(e) while not being a member of a provincial council, a member of the executive committee of a province or, while not being a member of the Legislative Assembly of the territory of South West Africa, a member of the Executive Committee of the said territory,
shall, for as long as he holds that office or post, be a member of the Parmed Medical Aid Scheme, subject to the rules of that medical aid scheme as registered in accordance with the provisions of the Medical Schemes Act, 1967 (Act No. 72 of 1967).".
Short title and commencement.
2. This Act shall be called the Parliamentary and Provincial Medical Aid Scheme Amendment Act, 1976, and shall be deemed to have come into operation on 1 April 1976.
