Occupational Diseases in Mines and Works Amendment Act. 1974 (No. 67 of 1974)

Act

• to amend the Occupational Diseases in Mines and Works Act, 1973, to increase pensions payable under the said Act to certain beneficiaries.

Be it enacted by the State President, the Senate and the House of Assembly of the Republic of South Africa, as follows:-

Amendment of section 79 of Act 78 of 1973.

1. Section 79 (1) of the Occupational Diseases in Mines and Works Act, 1973 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), is hereby amended- 

(a) by the substitution in paragraph (a) for the expression "fifty rand" of the expression "fifty-five rand";

(b) by the substitution in paragraph (b) for the expression "ninety-four rand" of the expression "one hundred rand";

(c) by the substitution in paragraph (c) for the expression "one hundred and thirty-six rand" of the expression "one hundred and forty-four rand";

(d) by the substitution in paragraph (d) for the expression "ninety-four rand" of the expression "one hundred rand".

Amendment of section 84 of Act 78 of 1973.

2. Section 84 (I) of the principal Act is hereby amended- 

(a) by the substitution in paragraph (a) for the expression "seventy rand" of the expression "seventy-five rand"; 

(b) by the substitution in paragraph (b) for the expression " twenty-nine rand" of the expression "thirty-two rand".

Amendment of section 86 of Act 78 of 1973.

3. Section 86 (1) of the principal Act is hereby amended- 

(a) by the substitution in paragraph (a) for the expression  "twenty-five rand" of the expression "twenty-seven rand and fifty cents";

(b) by the substitution in paragraph (b) for the expression "forty-seven rand" of the expression "fifty rand";

(c) by the substitution in paragraph (c) for the expression "sixty-eight rand" of the expression "seventy-two rand".

Amendment of section 92 of Act 78 of 1973.

4. Section 92 (1) of the principal Act is hereby amended- 

(a) by the substitution in paragraph (a) for the expression "thirty-five rand" of the expression "thirty-seven rand and fifty cents" ;

(b) by the substitution in paragraph (b) for the expression "fourteen rand and fifty cents" of the expression "sixteen rand".

Short title.

5. This Act shall be called the Occupational Diseases in Mines and Works Amendment Act, 1974, and shall be deemed to have come into operation on 1 May 1974.
