The Black Laws Amendment Act 56 of 1949 intends:
- to amend
- the Black Labour Regulation Act, 1911 [repealed],
- the Black Affairs Act, 1920 [repealed],
- the Black Taxation and Development Act, 1925 [repealed],
- the Black Administration Act, 1927 [repealed],
- the Black Administration Act, 1927, Amendment Act, 1929 [repealed], and
- the Development Trust and Land Act, 1936 [repealed];
- to exempt certain land held by the South African Black Trust from the provisions of the laws governing the establishment of townships or relating to town planning;
- to authorize the granting of exemption in respect of land whereon Blacks employed in mining or industrial undertakings are housed from the provisions of certain laws; and
- to repeal certain provisions of British Bechuanaland Proclamation No. 2 of 1885 and Act No. 7 of 1924.
