47 of 1985

The National Key Points Amendment Act 47 of 1985 intends:

  • to amend the National Key Points Act, 1980, so as
    • to provide for two or more National Key Points to be declared a National Key Points Complex with a view to joint steps being taken in respect of the security of those Key Points by the owners thereof;
    • to empower the Minister of Defence in certain circumstances to take or cause to be taken the necessary steps in respect of the security of Key Points and to recover the costs thereof from the owners; to state the duties of the owners of National Key Points more clearly;
    • to provide for the establishment of a Special Account for the Safeguarding of National Key Points;
    • to provide for the appointment of persons to advise the Minister of Defence and to assist him in the exercise of his powers under the Act;
    • to state the powers of entry of places and areas under the Act more clearly;
    • to validate certain acts of the Minister of Defence; and
    • to effect a certain correction in the Afrikaans text; and
  • to provide for matters connected therewith.
