National Key Points Amendment Act, 1984 (No. 44 of 1984)

Act

  • to amend the National Key Points Act, 1980, so as
    • to authorize the Minister to make regulations relating to the employment or the hiring of the services of guards by the owners of Key Points, the requirements to be complied with by persons serving as guards at such Key Points, and the nature and duration of the training or further training of such persons; and
    • to provide that the regulations made under section 11 shall bind the State to the extent determined by the Minister or any person authorized thereto by him.

BE IT ENACTED by the State President and the House of Assembly of the Republic of South Africa as follows:-

Amendment of section 11 of Act 102 of 1980.

1. Section 11 of the National Key Points Act, 1980, is hereby amended by the substitution for paragraph (a) of subsection (1) of the following paragraph:

"(a) the [appointment] employment or the hiring of the services of guards by owners of Key Points, the requirements to be complied with by persons serving as guards at Key Points, and the nature and duration of the train ing or further training of such persons;".

Amendment of section 13 of Act 102 of 1980.

2. The following section is hereby substituted for section 13 of the National Key Points Act 1980:

"Certain provisions bind the State.

13. The provisions of sections 2, 3 (1); 3 (2) and 12 and, to such extent as may be determined by the Minister or any person authorized thereto by him, of the regulations made under this Act, shall bind the State.".

Short title.

3. This Act shall be called the National Key Points Amendment Act, 1984.
