            The Merchant Shipping Amendment Act 3 of 1982 intends:
- To amend the Merchant Shipping Act, 1951, so as
- to further define the functions of certain officers in relation to the crews of ships;
- to further regulate the disposal of wages payabie to seamen; and
- to provide for the application in the Republic of conventions relating to merchant shipping matters; and
 
- to provide for matters connected therewith.
