The Magistrates' Courts Amendment Act 53 of 1970 intends:
- to amend the Magistrates' Courts Act, 1944, so as:
- to apply that Act to the territory of South-West Africa;
- to provide for the determination of an area in a district and a place in such area for the holding of a court for such district;
- to amend the constitution of the Regional Divisions Appointments Advisory Board;
- to provide for the disposal in certain circumstances or property in respect or which an attachment has been withdrawn;
- to make further provision for the suspension or judgments;
- to delete certain references to the civil record book and to the rules contained in the Second Schedule to the Magistrates' Courts Act, 1917;
- to make further provision for the transfer of proceedings to the court of a regional division;
- to amend certain penalties;
- to substitute in certain provisions the word "Republic" for the word "Union"; and
- to provide for incidental matters.
