The Indemnity and Trial of Offenders Act 6 of 1922 intends:
- to provide for the withdrawal of martial law from operation in certain districts of the Transvaal;
- to indemnify the Government, its officers and other persons in respect of acts advised, ordered or done in good faith in relation to measures taken for the prevention and suppression of disorder or disturbance, the maintenance of good order and public safety and in the administration of martial law; and
- further to enable special criminal courts constituted under the existing law to try certain classes of offences committed during the disturbances in those districts.
