118 of 1993

The Health and Welfare Matters Amendment Act 118 of 1993 intends:

  • to amend the Health Act, 1977 [repealed in 2010], so as
    • to authorize an Administrator to prescribe the moneys payable for the rendering of certain services; and
    • to further regulate the duties and powers of local authorities in connection with health care services;
  • to amend the Dental Technicians Act, 1979, so as to allow a non-member of the South African Dental Technicians Council to be the chairman or vice-chairman of a committee of the council;
  • to amend the National Policy for Health Act, 1990 [repealed in 2012], so as 
    • to do away with the Administrators Health Council; and
    • to change the constitution of certain health bodies;
  • to amend the Medicines and Related Substances Control Amendment Act, 1991, so as to further provide for the commencement of certain sections thereof;
  • to amend the Probation Services Act, 1991, so as to further provide for the treatment of probationers;
  • to amend the Social Assistance Act, 1992 [repealed in 2006], so as 
    • to define certain expressions; and
    • to provide that grants may be paid in respect of care-dependent children; and
  • to provide for incidental matters.

20 July 1993, unless otherwise stated
