The General Law Amendment Act 70 of 1968 intends:

  • to repeal:
    • the Registration of Firms Act, 1906, of Natal, and
    • the Beef Export Bounties Act, 1923 (repealed in 1962);
  • to amend:
    • the Liquor Act, 1928 [repealed in 1978];
    • the Attorneys, Notaries and Conveyancers Admission Amendment Act, 1965 [repealed in 1976];
    • the Attorneys, Notaries and Conveyancers Admission Act, 1934 [repealed in 1979];
    • the Protection of Names, Uniforms and Badges Act, 1935 [repealed in 1969];
    • the Black Trust and Land Act, 1936 [repealed in 1991];
    • the Matrimonial Causes Jurisdiction Act, 1939 [repealed in 1979];
    • the Land Bank Act, 1944 [repealed in 2002];
    • the South African Reserve Bank Act, 1944 [(repealed in 1989];
    • the Magistrates' Courts Act, 1944;
    • the Soil Conservation Act, 1946 [repealed in 1970];
    • the South African Tourist Corporation Act, 1947 [repealed in 1993];
    • the Rents Act, 1950 [repealed in 1976];
    • the Internal Security (previously Suppression of Communism) Act, 1950 [repealed in 1991];
    • the Criminal Procedure Act, 1955;
    • the Animal Diseases and Parasites Act, 1956 [repealed in 1986], and
    • the General Law Amendment Act, 1956;
  • to repeal the Special Justices of the Peace Act, 1957;
  • to amend:
  • to repeal section 34 of the General Law Further Amendment Act, 1962;
  • to amend:
  • to validate Proclamation No. R.123 of 1967.

  • 30 August 1968, Sections 3 to 6, 10, 26, 28 and 29
  • 6 December 1968, Section 49
  • 1 November 1968, Sections 7 to 9, 11 to 13
