  • to amend the provisions of the Fund-raising Act, 1978, relating to the power of the Minister to prohibit the collection of contributions.

BE IT ENACTED by the State President and the Holise of Assembly of the Republic of South Africa, as follows:-

Amendment of section 29 of Act 107 of 1978.

1. Section 29 of the Fund-raising Act, 1978, is hereby amended by the substitution for subsection (1) of the following subsection: 

"(1) If the Minister deems it to be in the public interest, he may, notwithstanding theprovisions of this Act, and without giving any person or organization notice or an opportunity to make representations, by notice in the Gazette prohibit the collection of contributions for any purpose or in any manner or by or for or on behalf of any person or organization mentioned in such notice.".

Short title.

2. This Act shall be called the Fund-raising Second Amendment Act, 1981.
