Education and Training Amendment Act, 1981 (No. 10 of 1981)

Act

  • to amend the Education and Training Act, 1979, so as to substitute a certain official title and to effect a certain textual alteration; and
  • to provide for incidental matters.

BE IT ENACTED by the State President and the House of Assembly of the Republic of South Africa, as follows:-

Amendment of section 1 of Act 90 of 1979, as amended by section 1 of Act 52 of 1980.

1. Section 1 of the Education and Training Act, 1979 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), is hereby amended- 

(a) by the insertion after the definition of "Department" of the following definition: ·
"'Director-General' means the Director-General: Education and Training;"; and

(b) by the deletion of the definition of "Secretary".

Amendment of section 23 of Act 90 of 1979.

2. Section 23 of the principal Act is hereby amended-

(a) by the substitution for paragraph (e) of subsection (23) of the following paragraph:

"(e) the person charged be discharged from the service of his employer or be called upon to resign therefrom [; or] and that he

[(f) the person charged] shall not be appointed as a teacher for a period (if any) determined by the Minister."; and

(b) by the deletion of paragraph (f) of subsection (23).

Substitution of word "Secretary" in Act 90 of 1979.

3. The principal Act is hereby amended by the substitution for ·the word "Secretary", · wherever it occurs, of the expression "Director-General".

Short title.

4. This Act shall be called the Education and Training Amendment Act, 1981.
