The Criminal Matters Amendment Act 116 of 1993 intends:
- to amend the Correctional Services Act, 1959, so as
- to amend a certain definition and to delete others;
- to provide that a determinate sentence of imprisonment shall run concurrently with an indeterminate sentence of imprisonment imposed on a dangerous criminal; and
- to further regulate correctional supervision;
- to amend the Mental Health Act, 1973 [repealed in 2004], so as to amend a certain definition and to delete others;
- to amend the Criminal Procedure Act, 1977, so as
- to amend the definition of "correctional supervision";
- to provide for the declaration of certain persons as dangerous criminals;
- to provide that a dangerous criminal shall undergo imprisonment for an indefinite period; and
- to provide for the release of such dangerous criminal; and
- to provide for matters connected therewith.
